Q-How do I enroll my student in RAS programming?

A- One must work with their home school district to complete the necessary paperwork for enrollment.

Q-How long does it take to enroll students in RAS programming?

A- Once the paperwork is in the principal’s possession there is a 48 hour turnaround.

Q-What kind of specialized services are offered at RAS?

A- Full Time Social Worker, Work Training Supervisor, Access to Food Pantry/Community Resource Room weekly

Q-How many credits can a student obtain during a regular school year?

A-

  1. Full schedule is 3.0 credits/semester, 3.5 credits if working – standard 15 hrs./wk.

  2. Once a student earns 20 days, they can enroll in an independent study, equivalent to .5 credits, once that independent study is completed, they can enroll in another for .5 credits.

  3. Credit limit typically is 4.5 credits/semester unless otherwise authorized but he home school district.

Q-What do the learning environment look like at RAS?

A-

Digital Learning Environment

  • Students take classes online

  • Have a teacher to assist with questions and concerns

  • Students work at their own pace

  • Students must have a certain level of independence/discipline to be successful

Collaborative/Project Based Learning Environment

  • Students are placed with traditional type classroom with teachers instructing lessons

  • Students complete pencil/paper assignments. projects and participate in discussions/experiments

Q-What is RAS snow day policy?

A- If BOTH Unit 5 and District 87 are closed, RAS is closed. If RAS is closed due to snow and/or other emergencies, notification will be posted immediately on the front page of our website, and on WJBC, AM 1230.
