middle school nature excursions
The Middle School program has been completing experiential learning opportunities on Fridays. The first week they went to the McLean County Museum and did a community art walk around Downtown Bloomington. They learned how to look at their community with an appreciative eye.  The second week they went to Sugar Grove Nature Center. They learned about hummingbirds and bees. They got to explore in the imagination grove and went on a couple hikes. While they were on their hikes, Eagle Scout Mr. Krause taught the students about different elements of nature including animal tracks and poison ivy. Today they went to Miller Park Zoo. They did a scavenger hunt surrounding different classifications of animals. The students have really enjoyed being able to engage in the Friday Excursion experience and the teachers have enjoyed creating alternative learning experiences.
